All you need to do is reserve your seats and bring your love of music…and maybe an appetite.
On November 26, 2016, Darryl Friesen (pianist) and I have performed Schubert’s German song cycle – “Winterreise” (Winter Journey), with English translations projected through the evening.
We featured the rare, 1860 Chickering Grand Piano at Leonard and Marie Klassen’s home (similar to the actual pianos of Schubert’s time) along with the artwork of Margruite Krahn and of course, as has become the expectation at these events, we enjoyed fabulous food and wine inspired by our musical theme – “Winter Journey”.
As many of you know, there are limited seats available at these events. I was overwhelmed by the quick sell-out of this concert – nearly 60 people were there to hear this musical masterpiece live…right here in Steinbach.
The feedback has been fantastic – is has been called “first class”, “world class”, and “an evening to remember!”.
